WHERE IT STARTED
The Pawtriot Dog Training journey started in the beginning of 2020. At the time, Brian was serving as an attack helicopter pilot in North Carolina. While Sydney worked as a dog trainer for a large well-known company in Raleigh, NC. Brian received Marine Corps orders to Okinawa, Japan. Shortly after receiving orders abroad Covid-19 hit, cities went into lockdown, the market crashed, and the world was full of uncertainty. In this time of uncertainty, Brian and Sydney knew their passion for helping dogs and owners was strong, they knew that they wanted to continue to pursue Sydney’s calling even abroad. When they found out that there were no legitimate well-established dog training companies in Okinawa, Japan they decided to start their own company. Inspired by the military service that resulted in their big move, they named their business “Pawtriot Dog Training.”
Proudly, Pawtriot Dog Training was the first military base approved dog training business on the island! During their short time in Okinawa, they became the #1 dog training company. Sydney was fortunate to be able to train countless dogs belonging to service members and their families. They established a community where dogs and their owners could grow together in a comfortable environment, despite being far from home.
Pawtriot Dog Training is a small family-owned business that looks forward to building new communities all around the world and continuing to positively impact the lives of dogs and their owners alike. We believe that this is best achieved through the habit of training. We strive to provide our clients with a coach-like level of support, accountability, encouragement so that they have all of the resources they need to succeed. When it comes to our training, we believe that every dog has unique personality traits, which is why we take an individualized, scientific, and balanced approach to each dog we work with. We begin by utilizing a clear marker system and positive reinforcement to build enthusiasm in commands and an understanding of behavioral expectations. Once we are confident in thorough understanding and have achieved success within repetitions, we overlay training tools to guide and subtly communicate in moments of more intense distraction. Through proper training, we’re able to help dogs understand appropriate and inappropriate behaviors, as well as how to keep focus on their owners, regardless of the environment. Ultimately, professional dog training allows owners and their dogs to live the best life possible with one another, with clear boundaries and communication. |
